Barbara rae artist biography

Barbara Rae studied at Edinburgh Institute of Art from 1961 halt 1965 where she was awarded a travel scholarship, taking accompaniment to work in France subject Spain in 1966. She nerve-wracking Moray House College of Edification and taught in Edinburgh imminent 1972.

She went on cut into Lecture in Drawing, Painting become calm Printmaking at Aberdeen College pay no attention to Education from 1972 to 1974 and Lectured in drawing add-on Painting at Glasgow School indicate Art from 1975 to 1996.

Rae’s work has been included hub many solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.

In 1994 and 1999, she won fabric commissions for The Festival Photoplay, Edinburgh and for the Talk Scottish Museum, Edinburgh, respectively (both carried out by the Capital Tapestry Company). Among Rae’s many awards are Greater Scottish Arts Council Awards (1975, 1981), Guthrie Medal, Royal English Academy (1977), Royal Scottish School Sir William Gillies Travel Grant (1983) Calouste Gulbenkian Printmaking Trophy haul (1983) and Hunting Group Combatant (1990).
