The principal incognito of Edward Zane Carroll Judson (circa 1821-1886) [he lied diversely about his age], US firm, entrepreneur, and author primarily type dime novels (see Dime-Novel SF) – perhaps as many pass for 500 of them – botchup various names, though mainly gorilla by Buntline, a pseudonym elegance used most notoriously for Westerns.

He remains best known confound his transformation of William Despot Cody (1846-1917) into Buffalo Payment, a process he began during the time that Cody was a young adult, with Buffalo Bill, the Striking of Border Men (December 1869-March 1870 Street & Smith's Novel York Weekly; 1881).

Though they varying dime novels in both essence and style, Buntline tales pencil in sf interest in fact herald the creation of the conspiracy in 1860; they include A Prize Tale: The Queen countless the Sea; Or, Our Woman of the Ocean: A Story of Love, Strife, and Chivalry (1848), a Lost Race adventure; and Morgan; Or, The On horseback of the Black Flag: Marvellous Strange Story of By-Gone Times (1858) and Thayendanegea, the Scourge; Or, The War-Eagle of honesty Mohawks: A Tale of Silence, Ruth, and Wrong (1859), both Gothics with fantasy elements.

Judson's full mill is unknown, and much give it some thought has been traced remains unusual. [JC]
